Saintoft lodge is situated on the southern fringe of the North York Moors National Park, nearly equal distance between the villages of Cropton and Newton upon Rawcliffe. Both are made up of a community of farms, smallholdings and traditional houses and cottages and only 10 minutes drive from the main A170 Thirsk to Scarborough road. This in turn gives quick and easy access to the market towns of Pickering and Kirkbymoorside to which both villages are dependant on for most of their every day amenity, although both have their own village pubs. Saintoft Lodge is situated in the heart of great walking country and is surrounded by forestry and farm land. Its nearest train station is in Malton some 15 miles away where a direct service to York gives access to the London to Edinburgh service.
Saintoft Lodge is the former gate house to the the country residence Elleron Lodge located beyond the woodland to its North. Over time the entrance to Elleron has changed and the gate house has been given its own independence. It now stands along side the old access within its own grounds of approximately 3 acres. Described locally by many as the 'Hansel & Gretal Gingerbread Cottage' this pretty detached stone property topped with scalloped rosemary tiles has reached a point in its history where it requires a program of maintenance, modernisation and refurbishment. The current owner has lived and raised a family in it for the last 60 years.
The cottage has two receptions rooms off its front porch, along with a kitchen and pantry on its ground floor. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a bathroom. However with its immediate garden and out buildings (and subject to planning consent) there is a possibility to extend its foot print to accommodate a more sizeable property.
