Description

Hartoft is a small community of traditional farm houses and cottages, set in the heart of the North York Moors National Park where there are some lovely walks and terrific views over the surrounding forest and countryside. The nearby village of Rosedale Abbey has a small primary school and provides basic amenities with a wider range of facilities available in the market towns of Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley some 9, 11 and 16 miles respectively.

For nature lovers looking for something off the beaten track, Head House Cottage might just be the ticket. A traditional semi detached farmhouse of stone and pantile construction, the property proudly sits on a hillside overlooking a leafy valley with an east/west aspect, completely surrounded by farmland and forestry.

The farmhouse itself offers versatile living accommodation having the benefit of an adjoining barn that at some stage in its life has been linked to the original farmhouse and then converted to create two more reception rooms, a shower room and mezzanine bedroom. If a kitchen were added, this part of the property could become completely self contained. The main house provides a kitchen, sitting room with wood burning stove, 2 bedrooms and bathroom. Central heating is via an oil boiler and windows are double glazed.

As one would expect, there is a traditional range of outbuildings adjacent to the farmhouse that are currently used for storage/stabling, together with a well stocked garden bounded by stone walling and for those wishing to keep livestock, 2 grass paddocks amounting to approx. 5 acres are ideal for horses/ponies, sheep, rare breeds perhaps.
